The regional manager, Francis Enebeme, and Wilfred Akah,
the dispatch rider of a new generation commercial bank located in
Warri, Delta State, have been arrested in connection with a foiled robbery of the bank.
According to the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Celestina Kalu,
the two men were picked up after some suspects arrested in the
aftermath of the attempted robbery, fingered them as the brain behind
the crime and had supplied the criminals with vital information.
“On
September 4, 2015, the police received credible information that a gang
of armed robbers had finalised plans to rob Enterprise Bank Plc, along
Effurun-Sapele Road, by Refinery Junction, Warri.
So SARS operatives mounted surveillance around the Bank, and at about 5.23 pm of same date, the hoodlums invaded the Bank.
But they were successfully repelled by a combined team of SARS operatives and mobile policemen on duty at the Bank.
Police investigations later revealed that the two staff of the bank were involved in the attempted robbery," Kalu said.
She further confirmed that the two bank staff were involved in the planning and execution of
the foiled robbery and are currently undergoing interrogation, while
various sums of money hidden in the offices by the two suspects were
equally recovered.
