Chidinma aka Miss Kedike
It’s three days till the end of August and still we continue to wait upon Miss Kedike’s album. We’re in the third quarter of the year and we are yet to be blessed by a great album from Chidinma Ekile
or any of Nigeria’s music industry's leading ladies. Some of us had
hoped that the singer would end the dry spell with a rain of her highly
anticipated album.
In 2010, she was named the winner of Project Fame West Africa’s season 3. In 2012 she released her self-titled debut album, “Chidinma”. That was three years ago.
She
didn’t officially come out to say her album would drop in August, but
there were rumours, which her fans had hoped would eventually become a
reality.
The ‘Jankoliko’
crooner is not the only one in this category of projects awaiting
release in this quarter, the industry also awaits the release of albums
from Davido, Wizkid, Lil Kesh, Bez and Timi Dakolo – all of whom are yet to confirm the dates of their album release.
This year, the songster released a single titled ‘We are one’, she also released a humour-filled video for ‘If e no be God’ and the visuals for ‘Kite’. These releases made our mouths water. Her most recent collaborations with Flavour's 'Ololufe' and CAPital-Nation's 'Finally' have provided an even deeper insight into the musical variety of the songstress.
In spite of the
silence regarding her album, the diva has ensured she’s stayed engaged
with her fans. She’s performed at several shows and concerts across the
country and even in Cameroon.
The
24-year-old singer reinvented her look in 2013 with a natural crop hair
do and a wardrobe filled with African prints. It seemed as though there
was the good girl turned bad transition going on but she still remains
the sweet girl next door. With the reinvention of her look, it was easy
to assume that the rebranding was in preparation for her sophomore
album, still we wait.
Truth be told, the
Capital Hill music group know something we don’t. Her singles and videos
continue to make our mouths water for what’s to come from the Capital
kitchen, the aroma is starting to get unbearable.
Chidinma’s
silence on this has forced us to imagine the prospect of what's to
come. We’ve enjoyed the starters, now we await the main course.
