Louis van Gaal's men are the same price as Atletico Madrid and Arsenal to win the competition after qualifying for the group stages but Barcelona lead the market at 3/1
A 7-1 aggregate win over Club Brugge was more than enough to ensure Manchester United took their place in the Champions League this season but after a year away the bookmakers make them relative outsiders to challenge the more established European powerhouses this season.Louis van Gaal's men are priced at 20/1 (21.0) to win the competition ahead of the group stage draw in Monaco, the same price as 2014 finalists Atletico Madrid and fellow English contenders Arsenal in the outright market.
Barcelona lead the way, on offer at 3/1 (4.0) to retain their European crown ahead of recent previous winners Bayern Munich (5/1) and Real Madrid (11/2). Chelsea are the shortest-priced Premier League club at 10/1 (11.0). Paddy Power are top price on all four teams at the time of writing.
While the Catalan club have been unable to strengthen their treble-winning squad this summer, the January transfer window will mean the likes of Arda Turan and Aleix Vidal can be added to Luis Enrique's squad for the final stages of the competition.
Given their obligations around the world though, it remains to be seen how much a hectic schedule that awaits them will impact on Barca's chances of success this term.
Manchester City may have had domestic success since their big money transformation but a serious tilt at European glory eludes them. Manuel Pellegrini's side are 11/1 (12.0) to collect a maiden Champions League title, slightly ahead of Paris Saint-Germain who are on offer at 14/1 (15.0).
Last season's finalists Juventus were relative longshots at around 33/1 (34.0) and while they fell at the final hurdle and have lost the services of several key players, Paddy Power are somewhat more wary of the Italian champions this time around, making them just 16/1 (17.0) to go one better than their last attempt.
After the likes of Arsenal, United and Juve there's a sizeable gap in prices to the likes of Europa League champions Sevilla (50/1), Bundesliga runners up Wolfsburg (66/1) and previous winners Porto (80/1).
