One of the students with the name @Mr Tawiti went on Twitter to attack Wizkid in a series of tweets. He accused Wizzy of failing to show up at their school, after he had allegedly been paid N7m as artiste’s charge, N1.2m for Logistics, as well as feeding and accommodation for ten people who were supposed to come with the ‘Pakurumo’ singer.
@Mr Tawiti also stated that Olamide had initially turned down their offer, claiming that he can’t afford to come to the North for just N4m. However, Wizkid, in his characteristic manner, did not take it lying low, as he also took to his Twitter handle with guns blazing towards bloggers. He wrote, ‘Even when you’re trying to be lowkey and keep it cool, they still try to spread false rumours. I love my fans in the north. Love to you and yours…so anyone can get a Twitter account and tweet something crazy about you and the dumb ass bloggers will share the story without confirmation? I just wanna (sic) make music, perform to my amazing fans and live my life low key! No bad vibes!!’
It should be recalled that this isn’t the first time Wizkid will be having this type of issue with students. In 2013, some students of the University of Lagos had dragged him to the police on the allegation that they paid him for a show, but he refused to perform. Wizkid later stated that it was a case of mistaken identity as the person who the students communicated with about the show wasn’t a member of his team.
Meanwhile, efforts to contact Wizkid and his team proved abortive as at the time of filing this report, even as the student maintained that Wizkid was actually paid the said sum of N8.9m after long negotiations.
