Comedian attacks NBC over ban of Olamide's 'Bobo'

Alibaba has reacted to the recent ban on a number of Nigerian songs by the National Braodcasting Corporation.

In a list published by NBC, 18 songs and videos from local and international

 artistes are to be removed from air due to major reasons – “Vulgar lyrics and Obscene videos”.

Songs affected range from the current to past hit songs. Olamide’s music appears twice on the list. The buzzing ‘Bobo’ single, and his collaboration with CDQ and Masterkraft ‘Indomie’ are affected. Wizkid’s ‘In my bed’, Phyno’s ‘Yayo’, Reminisce’s ‘Tesojue’, Iyanya’s ‘Gift, and many others.

Veteran comedian Alibaba questions the delay with which the NBC handled the cases. Implying that the ban came a little too late, hence, is redundant.

In his words; “I just heard that some songs were banned from airplay. Wait o, if it took NBC how many months to know the contents of a song were not fit for public consumption, then we should worry. Songs that I have heard Pastors singing sef. People even shakiti in church during praise and worship.”

Davido’s controversial visual for ‘Fans mi’ also took a hit, but with a special reason. The NBC frowned on it because the “Video promotes ostentatious lifestyle, violence, drug trafficking and indecent exposure.”

On the international front, Nicki Minaj’s sexually explicit ‘Anaconda’ was axed, Ace Hood and Rick Ross had their ‘Bugatti’ visual removed, and he popular ‘Post to be’ by Omarion. No Nigerian artiste have reacted to the ban.

Last year, the NBC was in the news when the body restricted the play of hit song ‘Shoki’ by Lil Kesh.
