A scuffle between a woman, identified as Beatrice and her
neighbour in Idanre, Ondo state, has reportedly resulted to the death of
her two year old son, Vanguard reports.
According to sources, one of the thugs brought by the suspect to
settle scores with the mother of the deceased, reportedly removed the
baby from her back by force and smashed him on the concrete floor.
The neighbour, Toyin Akinrosotu, who is the major suspect, has been
subsequently arrested and detained, while the bereaved woman wants
justice for the loss she suffered.
Another source stated instead, that the baby fell off the back of his
mother during a scuffle occasioned by an argument, although there were
no confirmed reasons for disagreement.
The police authorities in the state have since transferred the case
to the Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (CIID) for
proper investigation, while the remains of the deceased has been
deposited at the General Hospital mortuary in the town for post-mortem
examination.
Another eyewitness recounts that the suspect, who lives at Awolata
Street, Idanre, reportedly led some suspected thugs to the house of
mother of the deceased and she was thoroughly beaten up, an incident
which led to the death of the boy.
The toddler, who was allegedly smashed on the floor, died after being
rushed to the hospital while his mother later reported the incident at
the police station leading to the arrest of suspect.
